View Full Version : Quick crown coping ???

Real quick guys. In coping an inside corner with crown moulding - with the non-mitered piece already applied to one leg of the corner, do I simply cut the other side of the joint as if it were a two piece mitered joint and then simply "back-cut" that piece? That is the way I thought it was done, but thinking about it in my mind has me confused and wondering if that is correct. I might be right and simply befuddled myself in thinking about it at all.

that is exactly what you do,if i am understanding your explanation correctly. Usually what I do is leave the last few feet of the first piece loose(no nails yet)then you can wiggle that piece to help the coped piece fit nicely. Good luck,its really not that hard once you do a few hundred feet or so, you get the hang of it:rolleyes:

Thanks Dale. That is what I thought the right concept was. Simple on paper, and just a tad bit more difficult in practice. But I can handle that. The back cutting is no big deal.
