Not my first project in use, but probably the first one that was kinda custom made to welcome my daughter who just came back from Europe after a year and a half at a Uni in Poland.

The bed is made of clear walnut. The finish schedule was:

A washcoat of shellac (Sealcoat thinned to 1.5 pound)
Two coats coat of Sealcoat and alcohol based stain (shellac and brown walnut stain, 1:2 ratio)
Three coats of Minwax Polycrylic, semi-gloss

No sanding between coats. Wet sanding of final finish with 600g.
HF hvlp system (http://www.harborfreight.com/high-volume-low-pressure-spray-gun-kit-44677.html) I recently bought was used for spraying.

It's not a masterpiece by a long shot, but Alicia is jokingly saying that bed might keep her at home a bit longer before she boards a plane again.

I had a hard time taking the pictures to reflect the true color. The finish is closes to the lighter version in the first photo.

Got to love the look of walnut.. Nice work on the daybed Darius.
I'm sure this will keep your daughter at home a bit longer...

That's a beauty Darius, makes the one I bought for my home office look pretty flimsy.

Very nice work indeed. Did you fill the pores? In the first picture it looks like a filled-pore finish.

Thanks all for the kind words.

Larry, I did not aim to fill the pores. Somehow they are visible only from up close.
