Greetings to Everyone
I've been reading posts on the Creek for sometime and thought it was probably time to introduce myself and join in. First of all, I've been impressed with the knowledge and skill level shown on this site. There are some truly talented members willing to share their experience with folks like me (the not so talented group).

I've been woodworking a number of years but only as a hobby. It seems to bring me great satisfaction and is a never ending challenge to learn and improve. My shop occupies part of the garage and is composed of the typical shop equipment - table saw, band saw, drill press, and an assortment of routers as well as a collection of hand tools.

On to the project: It's a cherry bench with fiddle back maple end panels. Size is approximately 32" wide x 16" height. Joinery is mortice and tenon with the solid wood end panels floating in a groove.

Thanks for looking and I look forward to being an active member of the forum.

Thanks Sam - the bench is a great size for a bedroom or wardrobe closet as place to sit to put on your shoes - at least that's how we use it.

The finish is simple - a wash coat of blonde dewaxed shellac (about a 1 lb cut) then rubbed out with 0000 synthetic steel wool. Next is 3 coats of Deftoil. That's about as complicated as I can handle.

Very nice, I like the cherry/maple combo quite a bit. I like that you displayed the great figure on the side panels so they're always visible.
