I decided to build a few things for the shop. I started with a station for my wifes lathe and grinder. It is out of Red Oak and Hickory. The next was a plane till out of Mesquite and Baltic Birch. Lastly my favorite is my cabinet out of Mesquited, Hickory, Maple and Baltic Birch. It is not finished yet, still needs two inset doors and a mess of dawers.

My cabinet is a replacment for an open, thrown together thing that collected everything and lots of dust. My shop is a 23 by 22 ft garage that is pretty full. I am trying toget organize and create places for everything.

The other pictures are of a cutting board I just finished and a scraper a made from a Shop Notes.

The first picture of my wifes cabinet, was an a couple of days old. Since then I built the other two drawers and put the final finish on it tonight.

Very nice. I should make a plane till myself.

Looking good. Your shop time will be much more enjoyable when you are a little organized.

It is on my bench being worked on, it was in real bad shape when I got it at the flea market.

Very nice work Shawn and you show a great deal of intelligence by building the unit for your wife first. :)

Gordon, I figure she approves of all my tool purchases it is the least that I can do for her. The lathe got her into the shop and understands better now when I say I need something.

I really like the cabinet Shawn. Reminds me of this entertainment center I built :D

1. Finish Shop Remodel.
2. Buy a lathe and tell my wife it is for her.

This place is full of great ideas. Thanks Shawn!

Shawn, thats pretty impressive.....I don't even think that my wife could spell lathe let alone use one.;)

Nice work

She hated the fact that I spent so much time in the shop, on this forum, and reading all the time about ww. I took her to a woodworking show and she was bored, but the next year we went to the same show she turned a pen and started to enjoy herself. I use the lathe just as mch as her but I get her to do things for me on it to keep her involved. She has a chisel handle on the lathe right now for a chisel I just picked up off eBay.

I really enjoy it when she is in the shop with me.

I think you took that to they next level Gary. I really enjoyed reading about your build and excellent dovetails. It was one of the things that inspired me to start building nicer shop furniture.

Great work!!! I love the cutting board, almost has a three dimensional feel.

Great shop projects, and I really like the cutting board - some good ideas there for a much smaller version of layout for a border inlay!

Thanks Jim, things have been going slow lately in the shop because of work but since I posted the last picture a few more drawers are done.

I absolutely do understand about the "going slow lately in the shop because of work" thing...
