I made these knobs from Redheart for a built-in cabinet I am installing in the basement. They are about 1 3/8" in diameter. I thought I would skip any finish. I sanded to 600 grit and then used Ubeaut EEE to polish up.

The white insert is of of bovine ivory I stole from my dog after she had chewed on it a while. Bone is the hardest thing I ever turned and sure does stink but polishes up real nice. I made a screw chuck with a 1/4" lag bolt for turning and then tapped 1/4" threads with a metal thread tap after finishing. I think I will put a couple of drops of thin CA inside the threads before I put them on.

Comments welcome. Thanks for looking.

Nice work, Mike, and you did a good job with consistency on them. I like the 'bovine ivory!!':D

Mike,

Nice work.

I have thoughts of doing something similar for the collabrative box.

Nicely done. Never thought of cow bone for turning... If I ever do, I may borrow the term bovine ivory.:D
