Bench Dog Feather Loc

Hi all, another question for this new learner. My neighbor gave me a Bench Dog Feather Loc for my table saw. I'm trying to be as safe as possible when using the TS and need to know the correct placement for the Feather Board. Do I lock it in across from the blade or before the blade? thanks, Sean

I keep all of the featherboard slightly before the blade.

Definitely before.
Otherwise it could push or flex the cutoff sideways into the rear of the blade.

Or simply cause the board to bind during the cut.

Be careful with those and make sure it is secure. I have four of these and two had faulty bars (replaced by the mfg no charge I will add) where they simply would not lock down. The last think you need is a safety device that is loose! My next purchase might be the Kregs - they look nice.
