Hey Gang,
I am really excited. I went to a larger Art Gallery in our capital city 30 miles away to apply for an Artist's application there, with the chance, if accepted, to possibly show some turnings. They handed me the paper work to fill out so I brought out a few recent turnings like the voided Mulberry Vase and the Purple Leaf Plum on a pedestal along with a Burled White Oak N.E. Challis for them to see, and as I was starting to fill out the application, they looked at each other then told me I would be accepted and that they would like to show at least 6-8 pieces to start. They even gave me an opportunity to be their featured Artist on a Friday night in a few months. They are a fairly large volume dealer and have Artisans from around the country. I am one of only two who will be showing turnings there. I am pleased as punch with the opportunity. Thought I would share....

Ken, great news!!! I hope all goes well for you, and that this is the start of a long relationship with this gallery. Sounds like they have a good clientelle! Good luck, and make sure to report on the featured artist show, too.

That is terrific news Ken...... and something to be proud of.
I was asked to appear at two local galleries in the past year. They asked if I would bring my own broom and take the midnight to 8 shift. :)

Thanks for all the well wishes. I did have to sign an exclusive contract not to show turnings with-in 10 miles, but that's not a problem with any other towns around here.

Fred,
That's really funny.

That is good news Ken, I'm glad for you, Taking along some pieces is a good way to introduce yourself and get immediate results, that has been my experience as well, though of course the pieces have to be good, no problem with yours :D
Have fun and take care :)

Ken, Congratulations, it as an honor for one's work to be immediately judged as accepted. I experienced the feeling at the "one of a Kind" art show held in the downtown Merchandise Mart, Chicago

Let us know how the sales go. I am seeking signs that people are spending money again. You received a well deserved honor for your hard work.

John,
I haven't got our picture yet, but I did ask Cheryl yesterday to email it to me. I will follow up tomorrow. I am working on some new pieces for Spfld, out of the burled oak I just got, and I will be displaying 6-8 pieces there until they sell, which I hope is not long. My contract is for 6 months starting 9-1-10, so I might just shift a few pieces there to start with and then add to them later, and see what develops.
