Clamp storage (http://www.woodworkingtalk.com/f9/clamp-storage-18897/#) is a problem for me. I have a mobile cart that is approx. 5' tall and I want to attach some sort of clamp rack to the top edge on the side. Something like you would see for garden tools. I was going to take a scrap piece of oak 1-1/4" sq x however long and drill 1/2" dia. holes at a 10 degree angle (up wards). The I was going to glue in a 3" long piece of 1/2" dowel. The problem I think is that if the clamp comes off the top edge of the oak, the dowels won't do much to keep it place. Any better ideas?
Thanks

There are some pretty inexpensive wall mounted racks that work well.

I wouldn't add the weight to a cart that was for a purpose other than just holding clamps. JMHO but, why drag the weight around if you are not specifically moving clamps. Grizzly has a small rolling clamp rack (http://www.grizzly.com/outlet/Bessey-Clamp-Rack-for-H5115/H8898) for around $60 if you want quick and easy. I opted for cleats along the wall for various hanging fixtures, clamps being one of them (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/attachment.php?attachmentid=155502&d=1278858239). The sme fixture holds everything from mighty minis to 41" parallel clamps. I usually know when I am going to need a clamps so I don't need them at my fingertips unexpectedly; I go and get them before I start that step.

Woodcraft has a rolling clamp rack on sale in the new flyer for 60 bucks or so (can't remember exact price). It is very similar to the Rockler version.

Here's what about 45 minutes, and some scrap lumber, did for me:

It's built on a $20 HF furniture dolly.
