Does anyone know a way to save all the drivers in Windows XP?

I'm going to have to reformat, and have misplaced my original drivers disc.

Just go to the mfr site and download them all before reinstalling. Put the critical ones like display and network on a USB stick.

There are some driver backup utilities at places like www.portablefreeware.com (http://www.portablefreeware.com). I've had mixed luck with them. Some more robust drivers haven't had every necessary file backed up.

Drives are pretty cheap. I'd buy a new drive, make it the master, change the old drive to slave (but not install it until/if you need the drivers off of it) then setup the new drive. Then you have everything you could possibly need off the old drive, data, apps, and drivers. Once everything is running and you are satisfied that you no longer need the old drive, wipe it and use if for more storage. One additional thing. I'd export the registry from the old drive to a text file. Armed with that, the old drive, and enough determination you could move any application from the old drive for which you no longer had the install files/Cds.

I'm of the mind that a good registry enema is a good thing when the viruses come-a-knockin.

To that end, when I reformat, I'm not going to take anything from the old reg.

I also have all my critical files on cdrom and an external HD.

The only issues I ever have is with the network and monitor drivers (on occasion). I'll take Matt's suggestion (thanks to all!) to download them from the mfg's site b4 reformatting.

Simple. How I like it. Thanks.
