View Full Version : A brace bit ready for the tool maker

Haven't seen this before. I was cleaning up some brace bits and came across these 3/4" bits. I almost threw them out as damaged. Now I think they are simply blanks ready to go to the tool maker for completion. What do you think?

Had this chisel with an interesting mark. Must have been made between 1945-49. "Drop Forged, Germany, Brit. Zone"

Yes, I think you are correct, the can see the die seam on the one bit clearly.

I am wondering about the bits, they almost look like cast copies.

Though I do not know how the manufacturing process progressed, it does not look like those would turn into quality auger bits.
