I am the new owner of a 1984 Duracraft lathe (model WL-1236). Untill a few days ago I haven't turned since highschool shop class (about 1996). I've turned a few cheap pieces of wood into knobs and batons and whatnot, just getting used to different tools and speeds, and i did turn a short piece of Indian rosewood and aside from the smell was really easy to turn... I intend to turn it into a few rings.
I need a Jaw chuck for my lathe and a way to turn pre drilled piece of wood. Right now I have a spur, a cup center?, and plate for making bowls and things of such. I need parts and I'm not sure exactly what i need or where to get them? if anyone can offer me some advise or a few places to get advise or parts I'd appreciate it.

welcome aboard the VORTEX.

There are a few good chucks out there just depends on what you are wanting to spend. Due to quality and funds available I went with the G3 from nova/teknatool. What I do like about them is they have so many jaws that work on almost all of there models of chucks... So sometimes it is easier to buy jaws used once in awhile.

that should be a good start and once you get the hang of what you need you might even take a run thru ebay.
