I found a few threads on packaging bowls at shows, but I'm wondering how do you recommend packaging bowls and hollowforms for shipping ?

Thanks
John

I wrap mine in a couple of layers of the large bubble wrap (not the small bubbles) and then pack them in a box of peanuts. Has worked well so far.

At least two feet of bubble wrap all around. Triple wall cardboard box or 1/2" - 5/8" plywood if your piece is really valuable. Max. insurance. And never forget that most people working in the shipping industry see "fragile" stickers as a challenge.

This is the way I used to do it and around the bag the box was filled with bubble wrap. The boxes were made of the same wood as the turnings.

I've only done it once to Robert McGowen on this forum. I simply stuffed the surrounding areas and inside of the bowls with the shaving from the lathe. Seemed to work well as it arrived unscathed.

I've use bubble wrap and peanuts and a very heavy gauge cardboard box for shipping! So far - has worked for me.

I've only shipped 10 or 15, but wrapping them in newspaper has worked for all of them. Crumple newspaper all around and inside.
