I've been restoring a 1790's Federal for some folks, and the house is a treasure trove of old, wide boards. Gifted some of the material by the client, I've set about making some stuff with it. Pics are of 1) wide board sheathing (with stealth Festool gloat); 2) Actual cull (the 8x8 is doug fir, used to make FF & R&S) 3) Face frame after much resawing and planing; 4) detail of doors (client didn't want raised panels) after a coat of BLO/varn/MS. I am really pleased with the patina of the wood. More later. Hope the pics post.

Let's see if I could find all the right words for this: WOW! :D That's beautiful and just NOT something you find anymore! Great score and the work looks to be coming out very nicely. Definitely, keep the progress pics coming, Walt!

Looks like you've got a project that will keep you out of trouble for a while Walt.
It's turning out pretty nice so far.
Curious as to where along the Hudson Valley you are? I was born in Troy and still have family back there. Planning a trip back next year.

Karl, I'm about an hour south of Troy in Germantown. Troy's a neat little burg.
