Saw a post awhile back where John had a creeker visit and the picture showed them in his shop.
Thought I'd show my shop which is the total opposite of John's.
It was clean 5 days ago and then I rough turned 6 or 7 sweetgum bowls.
Guess I will be forced to clean it again whether it needs it or not as my watchband broke sometime today and it's in that pile of shavings somewhere.:)
Oh well, guess it won't hurt to look like John's for a little while.

Hey, Bobby!! I couldn't possibly let me shop get like that - at 5'7" I wouldn't be able to get out!!:eek::D

But, I do have lathe envy!!;)

Bobby,
just curious enough to ask but what exactly is that DC collecting? It seems to have missed a little.I like a shop that looks like it's used to it's fullest.I also like the Sweetgum.Never know what you will find ,color wise.

Love the curls hanging off the top of the DC and everything else. Isn't it amazing how a couple blanks that don't even fill a shelf leave 8 trash bags full of shavings?:confused::confused::confused:

"...what exactly is that DC collecting?..."

Ha! Look at the size of that heap. Look at that little DC unit. It hasn't got a prayer!

PS Also noteworthy is that the only thing not covered in shavings is the seat of the stool...

Now that is a shop. Looks just like mine. Knee deep with chips.

Bowls? What Bowls? Did we miss something down in those shavings? It is surprising how far those curls can travel - must be wind current. Keep at it. You should have something nice from the sweet gum.

Are you also making toothpicks using a 8X8X8" blank as a start? Woohoo!

Don't forget knocking the fur off the ceiling above the lathe- :D

Looks like a fun time was had by all. :) Maybe it's time to get a coring rig?

That is a simply beautiful looking shop. It looks well used, loved, and lived in. I always clean up around the lathe when my knees are almost at the same height as the lathe bed, as that reduces so much bending over when turning.
