I should have given up on this little piece, but I still have a hard time chucking something I have not screwed up.:D There are a couple of very fine cracks running through it and unfortunately one went into the collar. The top also had a bunch of surprise inclusions. Just a piece for the shop window. Size is 4 1/4 x 3 1/2.

Mark, you sure do well with the walnut!! Very nice, petite lidded vase. Great color and form.

"I should have given up on this little piece..."

Not! It's a sweet piece and worth whatever frustration you had to overcome to get it done.

It looks good. If you keep it in the shop, you could fill with something useful like... money. That would be a great place to hide tool cash from SWMBO.

It so close to heart-shaped, I would be tempted to put it in the kitchen. But keep the money hidden in the shop. ;)

Definitely a keeper. Glad you didn't chuck it. Very nice.:)

Very nice! Great form - pretty wood!

Did you CA the cracks? As nice a form as this is - I would have it displayed somewhere where folks can appreciate it!

Like all the others have said, I think it's also a keeper. I like the photo of it on it's side.

Thanks folks. I was experimenting with the shape on this one. The curve is a little extreme. I wanted to see how it would sit with such a petite base. Works ok.

Did you CA the cracks?

Steve, I did CA the main crack. It did come out ok. I work pretty well with ca and sanding. Unfortunately the crack in the collar also had a chip and the inclusion on the lid is larger than I would have liked. Probably faster to turn another than mess with the fixes. I like this shape and have my eye out for some spalty stuff. This shape looks really good in spalted wood.
