Well, I finally finished the dresser for my daughter. It only took nine months to build but it was worth it. I can honestly say that I enjoyed it immensely. Thanks to all who responded to my posts regarding this project. Your helpful advice was greatly appreciated. I am attaching some pics for the police who patrol this forum so well. Hope you enjoy them.
Wishing you all the best.

Happy Holidays,
Mike

Actually the whole thing is from quarter sawn red oak. The darker pieces were stained with Bartleys dark brown mahogany gel stain and 5 coats of General Finishes gloss poly. The lighter portions are only 5 coats of the poly. All were hand applied as I don't have the capability of spraying.
The pics didn't come out as clearly as I had hoped but I think you get the general idea. Although they look as though the lighter pieces ambered some they really did not - the finish is just as clear as glass.

Mike -

Great combination of contrasting woods. The bottom frame and leg assembly done dark really adds to the artistry of the piece. She will treasure that for the rest of her life.

Well done!

Ted
