I promised some oak burl to a few people here on the creek, so figured I'd better get out there and cut on that tree I previously posted. Here's some pics .... and then I had to get them bandsawed into manageable sections, and sealed. Then we cut down a big maple .....:D

Cathy, that is some awesome looking wood, and I see a really nice NE piece in that chunk on the bottom left of the last pic!!! That piece is meant for that new Jet of yours!

Nice haul! That burl really has some future potential..........looking forward to when you turn that one into a piece of art!

Great gloat, but where's your sense of adventure? Were you not at least a little tempted to chuck up that huge chunk in the first photo?:eek:

Of course, that might mean purchasing a new lathe, but isn't that part of the appeal?;):D

Look at all that character!!!! I've been cutting up logs all evening, and only came up with a couple medium pieces with decent character. You got yerself a whole truckload!!

Nah, since he's getting a piece of the burl to work his magic on, he's not that foolish!;)

And, as always, many thanks to the hubby who is unselfish with his time and energy, and goes looking for the "right" trees to cut down for me!:)
