1st ever inlay. Maple in Walnut. Shoulder of child is part of lager walnut piece and the pocket was cut around it. More pics when this becomes a small sign later tonight. Done on my Joe's R&P. This is a second donation piece.

Here are the signs ready to be donated. Down to the wire so no shellac.

Mike, was it a v-bit that you used for cutting the pocket. Very nicely done! What bit did you use to cut the fine detail in the maple piece?

CMT 60 degree - that 3 flute bit they have. Used it on both the pocket and inlay.

Nice work. I like the selection of grain in the walnut, especially the dark line running across through the inlay.
For those with new machines, the V carve inlay method is fast and rewarding. A tutorial can be found over at the vectric forum under the thread A simple way to make inlays in the V carve pro tricks, and tips section.

Take our advice and read that tutorial on vectric. It is a very good inlay procedure. It has lots of margin for any error I might cause LOL. I really like the procedure.
Also that 1/2" CL 1/2" shank 3 flute 60 degree V bit from CMT is sweet!
