It is wormy but it is purdy.

I turned this today from the apple tree crotch I showed in this thread. http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=137371 It is turned form the round blank on the right of the photos in the above thread. I didn't realize it had so many critter tracks in it. Not enough room for the ice cream photos I'll do another thread for it.

I like this area of it, it reminds me of the US map:D
157548

Stats:
Material - Apple crotch
Diameter - 8-5/8" (Largest full circle diameter I have turned so far)
Height - 2.5"
Wall Thickness - 1/8-3/16 except at foot (probably 3/8-1/2 there)
Finish - Watco Natural Oil (wax later)

C&C welcome and solicited. Thanks for looking.

:)! Nice and punky. After I got it rough turned I had to soak it in thinned white glue. That helped a lot but I still had to get out my trusty 80 Grit scraper (several of them actually) out to get it down to a reasonable surface for finishing.:( I bet I sanded 1/16" in total from both sides of the walls.:( Anyway it didn't turn out too bad just a lot of work.

Beautiful wood and a nice shape. Sound like a lot of work, but it was worth the effort.

I originally was going to have spalting int the title but in my old age I forgot it when I actually got into posting.:o Note that I did an edit and added my number to the title, I keep forgetting to do that too.:o I need to do something about my memory, is there anything I can build in the shop to help that?:rolleyes:

Thanks everyone for your comments. They are very much appreciated
