(1) What type of wood do you think this is and how did they acheive that finish? I refer to this type of finish as rustic, is that correct?

(2) How do you think they joinded up the center peices. It does not seam like a tight glue up. Maybe a slight radius at the edges with a router and then a glueup?

Where was it made? It looks like a recent import. India, Indonesia, Thailand??? That might give you about idea of the wood. It'll be something we don't have here.

2)
Sure, jointed then rounded over or maybe a few strokes with a plane. Maybe rough tongue and groove. Any way you get there is OK if it doesn't fall apart.
