I saw a thread where George went in to some detail on the interior design of a Filter for his Laser. I am hoping that George could be kind enough to give out more details on the construction of the filter box itself.

I bought a filter system with my laser and it just is not able to completely get rid of the smoke and smell. In theory it should work. Prefilter, Hepa and 3" of carbon. However, it does blow the air in versus pulling it through. I thought I had everything pretty well sealed.

I saw Dan Hintz has one that he was working on also.

I want to move the laser to my basement before winter, so I need to get this resolved.

Thanks
Larry

My thread should still be on the first page or two in this forum... use your browser search and look for "$200". That should find it.

Dan,

I did see your post and read everthing as it was posted with great interest. Just not sure if it will robust enough, as I cut a lot of plywood. Plus, I would prefer something more modular, where I can replace one filter element at a time.

However, I have to admire your ingenuity; simple design, low cost and you are kind enough to share. It is indeed an opton though.

Thanks
Larry

Larry,

If I thought I would be replacing each section often (such as the charcoal), I might redesign it so they all sit in stacked boxes. For example, they sell 2" thick silverware containers that are made of perforated metal... would work great as a charcoal tray. Add a couple of handles and some weatherstripping around the edges, and several would stack up nicely.

Dan,

That idea about the stacked boxes is a great idea. I will give that a try.

Thanks
