I'll be traveling to Sewanee, Tn for a few days and wondered if there where any interesting places to visit for a woodturer or woodworker? Within an hour or so drive or the Nashville area.
Thanks.

Unfortunately there isn't much for woodturning in the Nashville area, just a Woodcraft. You'll be closer to Chattanooga which also has a Woodcraft. For non-turning related fun, Chattanooga has a great Aquarium that's worth a visit.
Hopefully someone on here might know of something else around Chattanooga.

You should to visit an establishment called Locals in the middle of the village of Sewanee, where you will see a display of a lot of interesting woodwork including the turned bowls and vessels of a great turner named Tom Church. Beautiful work. He also makes and exhibits furniture. His wife makes small boxes.

Tom has his studio nearby, in Belvidere (outside Winchester) and is a very friendly individual. His website is http://www.tomchurchstudio.com/ You might enjoy talking to him.

There is another turner working just off the old Highway to Nashville from Monteagle (6 mi. from Sewanee), about a mile down from the to of the plateau. Different style but also interesting.

The AAW Website lists Tri-State Woodturners as a chapter in Chattanooga. Their website is: http://www.tristatewoodturners.org

Thanks to everyone.
Unfortunately Locals is closed, but I'm gonna visit the Woodcraft in Chattanooga tomorrow.
