Can you tell me about applying Duraseal Penetrating Oil Floor Sealer?
Do I put the first coat on, then steel wool?
Can I remove the last coat of un-penetrated oil with steel wool and get a satin finish?
I am working on longleaf pine.

Which product are you using?

"Duraseal Penetrating Oil Floor Sealer" is not a product name I could find on their web site.

I'm not familiar withe product either, but I will note that when you use the term "steel wool" you should always think of the sythetic pads NOT the stuff actually made with steel.

In general penetrating oil finishes are not very durable, and don't meet the requirements of most people for really tough floors.

if you aren't set on a floor finish consider waterlox. it works very well on longleaf pine (the slight red of the tung oil based formula will highlight the red in the heartwood), and imo is superior to polyurethanes and penetrating oils.

a clear coat of shellac as a sealer, half-thinned waterlox until the wood stops drinking it, then an unthinned coat or or two of waterlox satin on top, and you're done.
