Stopped our local wood supplier to see what they had... (WestPennHardwoods.com) and they had 3-4 cases of cutoffs, blanks, mostly exotic stuff, etc...so....I asked if they had any deals....

The girl made me a deal, she said how about $1 / lb - !! WOW!!! After getting myself up off the floor (hahaha)... I asked for a box, since I figured I couldn't hold that many blanks, filled up about 80% and had 9.80 lbs in blanks. It was just a tad over $10 with tax. I think I got 50-60+ blanks!!! I think I am set for a while!! :)

A few I got....
Cocobolo
Purple Heart
Zebrawood
Zicote
Paduak
Red Heart
Bocote
and some others I couldn't identify yet.....

Plus a couple guys at work have given me some cutoffs from projects....both domestic and exotics....the vortex had sucked me in!!!

Poor girl, she will be fired the next day. You cleaned them out at a fraction of the cost!

Thanks!
Just got done making my pen press, thanks to someone posted the plans on here.
Just need a better drill press that can travel more than 2.125" inches, my tabletop doesn't make thru the blanks all the way (Grrrr.)

Drill them on the lathe Dave. The holes will be more accurate and less blow out... At least that has been my experience. I still use my drill press on occasion, but the lathe has been better for me.

BTW, we're still waiting on a photo of your score.

Dave, I just hold mine in my talon chuck with the small jaws( I can't remember what they call the jaws). If you don't have a chuck, I'd consider getting one rather than buying something just for holding pen blanks.
