Hey Folks,

I may be able to buy this pump for $100.00 or less, all I know about it so far is what I have included in this post. I really don't know enough about what type of pump is required to build a vacuum chucking system so I'm hoping someone here can offer up some guidance .... The ad states:

(This is a laboratory grade vacuum pump that originally sold for roughly $600.00.
It is a 1/3 hp motor and pulls around 20" Hg.

Works great.)

That pump originally pulled much more than 20" hg so it must be worn some. It is no longer good for its original purpose or for Air Conditioning repair work. It will still work for a wood turning vacuum chuck. You will not need even 20".

Hey Dennis,

Thanks for the feedback, I have thought long and hard about doing up a vacuum chucking system. This pump may be a great deal, I'm actually hoping to get it for $50 .... we'll see if the seller is negotiable.

Thanks again,
Tim

I (and many other people) use this pum (http://www.harborfreight.com/25-cfm-vacuum-pump-98076.html)p, it is an oil pump. But it's new, it's not spendy and it works

The surplus center often has GAST pumps for a good price. Here's a link to their current offering: https://www.surpluscenter.com/item.asp?item=4-1340&catname=

+1 on this HF pump. it is the one I got. I got it onsale for about $10 less than it is now but tack a 15% off coupon onto the current sale price and it is a bargain. The pump has worked beautifully for me.

I dont know about this one from surplus supply but I will tell that I bought a pump from them before I got it into service I had to have surgery and about 6 months later when I got it finished it just sent up a puff of black dust in the lines and they sent me a new no question asked
