Hello All.

You 've to smith when iron is red.
I translate grosso modo a sentence from here
"Il faut battre le fer tant qu'il est chaud."
For this time I'm turning yew...there is another sake flask.
223mm x 83mm
hollowed per bottom, on picture, you can see some scratches (on bottom) there are saw trace and accident.
This guy slip easily out the hand !
Hope you love it...comments welcome.
Friendly, Lionel.

Lionel, that is a very nice piece. I've tried to make 2 sake bottles, both were failures. Tell me how hollow is the interior? What tools did you use to hollow this piece? Again, great job.

Strike while the iron is hot? n'est pas?

Beautiful form and wood. I do indeed, love it.

Can it really be used to serve sake? Or is it simply the form of traditional sake service bottles?

Hi All,
Thanks for your comments.
@ Mike:
interior is hollowed before shape is done. Piece hold on a strong chuck. First tool, BCT then Munro for a
smoother cut.
then, I bore the neck (bit hold in headstock 500 rpm, I push the piece centered on a stebcentre with the
tailstock right hand, suporting the piece with left hand.
In the hole at bottom I (slighty) glue waste wood to center (2 axis) between the hole of the neck and bottom
When shape is done, remove the waste wood and turn a piece to glue in place.
if you turn on 1 axis, it's more easy.
Good luck.
@ Sean:merci beaucoup pour la sentence. I become more brainy.:)
So long the Creek.

When I used to drink beer Belgium beer was at the very top of my list... but the art that Lionel brings to the table is even better than the Belgium beer..

Very nice piece. I envy your patience.
