I recently installed and used the Smart Router accessory to the Smart Guide from Eurekazone (www.eurekazone.com (http://www.eurekazone.com/)) .
The system consists of a heavy aluminum baseplate that is slotted to fit most any router, I would think, as well as a plastic "sled" that dovetails very precisely into the Smart Guide's top edge (http://www.eurekazone.com/instructions/routerinstall.html) (as well as my attachment "routeronrail"). It seems to be made out of a self lubricating plastic (nylon maybe?). The installation on my DW 625 was quite painless (see attachment "routerguide"). The system once assembled allows a tremendous amount of "tweaking" to fit an individual router. The sled has pinch blocks to adjust for a tight fit of the sliding mechanism, and incorporates adjustments for leveling the router. The two locking knobs allow you to individually lock one axis of movement so you can either slide parallel, or perpendicular to the guide rail, or both. This allows some very tricky movements, as shown on the Eurekazone website. Also included are edge guides for using the router without the Smart Guide. I found the tracking of the router very precise and smooth along the length of the rail. I used it last night to cut some stopped dadoes for some bookcases I'm building and got results that were dead on both for placement of the individual dadoes as well as exactly parallel from one to the next (attachment "dadoes").

Happy to answer any questions...my apologies for the mediocre photo quality, what's the saying about the shoemaker's kids go barefoot?

Thanks, Paul. My guess is that the plastic is UHMW (ultra high molecular weight, google it). It is great stuff to use for jigs and machines well.

I bet you're absolutely right Chris. That slipped my mind (been a long time since I spec'd material  ). Thanks for jogging my memory!

BTW... Isn't that a Q33 Space Modulator you're aiming?
