I want to cut a one piece countertop to fit around a 90 degree corner. The top has a 4 inch riser at the rear and a 2 inch piece on the front. How can I do this without ruining the top or chipping the laminate?

I've done it with a very, very carefully placed straightedge and a circular saw. Saw from the back side, and screw your straightedge into the back so it won't move. To cut the backsplash, I moved the straightedge to the back of the backsplash (ie - it would be hard to do it all in one cut)

I did this about 14 years ago but i don't remember how I did it (senior moment). I would suggest the clamp method already recommended and either use tape or a scrap board on the laminate side to help stop chipout.

Inside corner or outside corner? Usually, its an inside corner. If so, you can buy precut 45 degree counter tops which glue and bolt together from the bottom. Usually you just have to cut the ends to length. Do that from the bottom with a new finish blade in your circular saw.
