:D:D Another of my passions is fishing. So I had to make a bowl to honor that. Segmented bowl, with a laminated feature band of fish. Hickory, cherry & walnut. About 10 inches in diameter. Thanks for sharing any comments.

Beautiful work. While I have made a few staved vessels, I haven't tried segmented work yet, but it's on my list. Great job!

Very well done Michelle:). The joinery is done well and the species used makes a great combination. Turning & fishing, LIFE IS GOOD!!

Nice Job. I like the thickness of the bowl; thin segmented pieces leave me a little unsure. I like a thickness of about 3/8", anything under 1/4" makes me nervous -- especially around childern and rowdy adults.

Hi Bill..what thin pieces? I'm not sure what you are telling me...

I'm talking about wall thickness. Some like to see how thin they can go without getting a blow out. I don't mean to imply that this is wrong -- to each his own -- just that I like my walls a little on the thick side, especially on segmented pieces.

Michelle that is a beauty. I like the design and form. I think what Bill was saying is he didn't like really thin segmented bowls like with a wall thickness of say less than 3/8".

rest assured Bill..she's plenty thick..the top rim is just shy of .385 I too don't see thin thin things as a great selling point. But it seems to be the craze right now..we just gotta go with the flow. A while back it was 1/4 inch diameter bottoms on vases 6 ft tall.& 2 ft wide..that too will fade away..good design is eternal..artists just have to push the envelope. (and I'm glad about it)

Nice bowl and good to have a theme that means something to you!

Michelle,

Now that is just way too nifty! What a nice segmentation, and because you evidently have angling in your blood, then a special commemoration of that as well...... that is really a neat project and well executed.

I have not tried segmenting as of yet, but it is definitely on my "to do" list of turning projects.

A very nice bowl Michelle, love the combo of woods. Great worksman/woman too.

Nice joinery, good alignment, and a nice choice of woods! Having a personal investment in the feature ring makes the piece all that much more special. Great job, Michelle.

I haven't had the segmenting urge, but I sure admire those that can do it!

Michelle, you are quite the artist. Nice piece, and I like the "band" with the pattern. When I get to segmenting, I will attempt something like that with a SW geometric band in it. As a newbie, thats not on the front burner for me at this time.
Thanks for the post:).

I like the bowl!! You did very well!
I have neither the patience, nor the talent, to do that segmenting work. But I love to see it!!

Thanks all..the easy paart was the segmenting..the hard part was figuring out the lamination process to come up with something that resembled a fish!
