I am curious about what the imigrants' (Ponders) assessment is of this forum so far. Complete the above poll

Ken, your poll is skewed just by the fact that it is running on this board. You are going to get responses mostly from people who have decided to come to the Creek. You'll get a less biased result if you ask this question on the Pond.

<p align="center"><font size="2" color="green"><b>SawMillCreek is shaping up very nicely<br> & I have decided to consider this my main home for WW'ing on the web.</b></font></p> Keith, Aaron & Jacquie(?) are doing an amazing job making this place comfortable. Also all of the really  extras, like your poll, & listing who's birthday it is, etc.. are going to add to the forum. Just yesterday & today I've seen a jump in the people checking out the forum.</font><br>
With that I will also be spending time at woodcentral - Ellis also has been bending over backwards to make us feel at home.
<font color="maroon"><b>I just think there is more of a potential for SawMillCreek to become like the Pond - & there is no reason why Ellis should have to make woodcentral "like the pond" WC is a nice place on it's own merits.</b></font>
<p align="center"><font size="2" color="green"><b>Anyway I'll be visiting both spots but am considering this "Home"</b></font> :)

BTW I only need about 4 more posts to become a senior member :p

Yes they are -- haven't either found or tried them all --- but I am working on it --- and they keep making improvements -- what they have done in one week is amazing.

Uncle Al I may do that tomorrow --- no posting on The Pond on Sunday.

I have been looking at the Oak, Wood Central, and Woodnet Forums since Wayne announced he was closing of the pond. It doesn't make any sense, but I never contemplated that would happen so I've kinda been reeling around trying to find something to replace it. I finally realized that's impossible because I had been visiting the pond since 1997 and knew the people there. Sawmill creek is new, but it sure seems more like the pond than the others I mentioned above so it looks like I may be landing here.

Ken,

I'm taking a wait and see approach.... I really appreciate the time and effort (and frankly, the technological improvements) offered on this board. However, whether I make this my "home" will depend on the traffic and quality of messages.

So far, all signs are positive and I'm hopeful that this place will live up to its potential. But obviously it will depend on us (the users) to make it ultimately successful.

Like other before me have said, both boards have very skilled and generous moderators running them and both have their merits. Still, I enjoy having a place to call "home" and, even though Ellis is doing a bang-up job in trying to modify his site, this one is pretty much being built "custom" to the preferences of most who are entering as members. Sawmill Creek will be my home, but I hope Ellis and the gang at Wood Central won't mind my visiting from time to time.;)

It will be here or WC but I like this format better, and this feels more like a new home, and not just invading someone elses house.

I'll see what happens. I've liked WC for a while, so I have started posting there. It looks like a bunch of the pond will come over here, so I'll probably hang here also. Which one replaces the pond as my home page is TBD.

I didn't have a "home" to begin with, going back and forth twixt Pond and Oak, so change is not in the offing. I have met several local "Ponders" and plan to revisit some of them, as well as others, at a luncheon hosted by one of them on March 1st.

I have registered here, and at WoodCentral and will also continue to visit The Oak Factory. I mine each daily and contribute when I think I have something to offer. It is great to be in contact with fellow woodworkers and much can be shared on all the forums.

Ellis Walentine has been more than gracious to all from the Pond, on extremely short notice, so I will keep that in mind always. He also participates in the discussions from time to time.

This forum is new, and I hope it prospers well into the future. I have participated in several other type forums and chatrooms over the last several years and woodworkers are, for the most part, the most polite, helpful, and caring folks around.

I pretty much split my time between the Pond and WC before up until this point. I'll probably continue splitting between here and there once the 28th passes us by.

I'll do as I've done in the past, haunt several boards as time permits. Like the others, I think Ellis has gone out of his way to make everyone welcome, so I'll continue to visit WC forum. Too bad Keith wasn't able to get this place up before we all invaded Ellis at WC. To conserve time, I'll probably make this home when there's only time to visit one site. The Pond was always my first site visit, and most of the time, there wasn't time to go elsewhere. This old "Creek" has a lot of potential!

So, "Come on, Let's all go down to "The Creek"

I had in the past, but mostly lurked at the pond. Only a few posts. I feel more inclined to answer folks here for some reason. It was my understanding that Wayne contacted Ellis before anouncing to the pond that he was closing it. I also think Ellis has gone above and beyond.

Hi Ken,

I answered the poll & posted a response to your question when I became a member on Saturday.
Please read on page three.

Thank you for your pond post last week, which informed me of this new forum;otherwise I may not have known.

So far I like it here and it will be one of my 'homes'. I'll probably roam around a bit more for a while, though. When I've got roaming time, that is.

I'm still playing with all the features. In the end it will be where I find most of my old friends, especially those from Arkansas.

I have to admit, this is very nice software, since I am an original WC guy, I will have to have multiple homes ... I like both places, in fact the only ww forum on the net I avoid is "The Oak" and it ain't that bad..

I like the format and the pond like atmosphere. I'm also very impressed with all the hard work that Keith and his staff have done to get this site up and running so fast. Kudos!

Well, except that is Thread Views, I've probably added 5-6 to that myself--every time I look at a new post. So, in a way, it is an artificially high number. I would guess that the truth is closer to 50% voted. After all, there's only about 325 members who can vote so far.

I go to a lot of forums because almost everyone has something to say that is worth reading. I like to choose the subject to read and I have always found something interesting to read. If I find something I dislike, I just press the X or the Back button.
