Memphis, TN area (North MS) turners?

I don't owne a lathe (yet), but I need to make 2 or 3 dowels that are 1 1/2 dia and about 12in long to use for wood screws. I live in Hernando, MS. Would anyone close by be willing to help me out this weekend?
I have never run a lathe, but I would like to check into it.
