I wrote a recent post - Grizzly G1023RL or G690? Move the short rails or cut the long ones? Without boring you with all the reasons, I have decided to order the G690 next week while I can still get the Bing cash-back. I will move the rails to the right to gain 6-7” of rip width. The saw must be on a mobile base and while googling and sawmill thread searching, I have read disappointing comments regarding the Shop Fox G7314 mobile base. To be fair, I have read similar comments on the HTC and others. Building my own is out of the question right now . Sorry if this topic has been beat to death but…..what are your experiences and suggestions for a mobile base?

I have my new GO690 sitting on the Grizzly mobile base. Works fine for me, but I only used it to get the saw into position. No intention of driving around the basement.

I also have the Shop Fox base...works fine. I rarely move my saw but when I do it rolls around. Not sure what the complaints were about.

There are other mobile bases available. Have you tried "table saw mobile base" Amazon search? It returns a number of models including this Laguna base:

I also have the Shop Fox base (with extension) under my Jet Deluxe Exacta saw. It works fine, just the fit and finish is pretty sloppy. The good thing about ordering it from Grizzly is that you will get it fast.

I just put the Shop Fox under my new G0691 this week and I'm happy with it. It rolls pretty smoothly and seems plenty beefy to hold that heavy saw. I don't have any complaints with it.

I special ordered this one

http://www.amazon.com/Shop-Fox-D2058-Adjustable-Heavy-duty/dp/B0000DD6BA

locally a year ago, still trying to decide whether to throw it away or spend even MORE money on real casters for it - it would barely roll with only its OWN WEIGHT on the wheels. Read the reviews at the bottom of the above link, I'm not alone in this.

Originally bought it to use under a PM66 I'm refurbing, now I'm (when the weather gets bad) welding up my own base out of 1-1/2" square tubing and 1/4" plate. Feet are machine pads ordered from Enco

http://www.use-enco.com/CGI/INSRIT?PARTPG=INSRAR2&PMAKA=325-6650&PMPXNO=5832336

Casters will be 6" urethane that rotate up out of the way when not in use on the heavy end, and a Rockler "foot caster" on the end under the extension table.

Sorry for the "tease", but no pix as yet. Need to do this eventually, and will post when I do.

Also, I know the OP isn't interested in DIY, I'm mainly warning AGAINST the Shop Fox base from personal disappointment... Steve
