Every few years, there are interior doors that I have to plane down because they swell with humidity and don't close. (Yes, I seal them afterwards.)

So the question arises: Can a door double in size? If not, what would be the theoretical limit on how much it could expand?

It might not be the doors, it could be that your door is sagging due to a structural problem, kids swinging on it, too many coats hanging on the door knob, etc.. Check the opening for squareness.

Can a door double in size?

One wonders if you meant that tongue in cheek.

They do it at night when you are asleep. The extension cords and hoses get tangled up at night as well. Strange goings on at night.

Einstein theorized "spooky actions at a distance" same thing with doors.

Can a door double in size?
Sure it can, but proper diet and exercise can stave off the growth for years until its metabolism catches up with it. If it needs a willpower boost, tell it to look at what happens to wives after a few years when they get comfortable in your relationship ;)

Whatdaya think I've got all those K Body clamps for? Hook 'em up and crank 'em tight. Put a towel down to catch the water you squeeze out.
