dc or ac power

Hi all
I have my lathe running on a 3/4 hp variable speed dc drive.

I have a 1/2 hp 3ph inverter vfd drive.Which one has more power.:confused:

The system I have running now is also running through the original

sheave pulley system on my general lathe.

Any help will really be appreciated.

We don't have enough information to answer that question.

The DC motor is 3/4 HP so it's more powerful at rated speed than the 1/2 HP AC motor at rated speed.

The issue is that you can change that if the motors are running at different speeds due to different rated speeds, or having the mechanical variable speed drive set at different ratios for each motor.

So, what's the rated speed of each motor?

Is the mechanical variable speed being used at the same ratio?

What motor speed are you using in each case?
