How does everyone store their collection of finishes, glues, solvents, and other misc and potentially dangerous items in their shops.

I am planning on building a cabinet to store these materials. Below are some of the things I am considering as part of the build.

Off the floor and out of reach for young kids
Solid oak with a lock
Plenty of ventilation holes
Fire extinguisher nearby

I am wondering if it would just be better to purchase a metal cabinet?

Most flammable storage cabinets are metal. Other than locking them up, a wood cabinet wouldn't seem to offer much protection.

We built on with thick, fire resistant sheetrock as a lining inside a wood cabinet because the fire department wanted it that way.

If you're going so far as to buidl a cabinet and include vent holes, I would vent it outside.
