Does anyone have any experience with these blades from Grizzly? I am looking for a better blade then I can get at Lowes but can't really justify buying a really expensive blade for my 100 dollar CL bandsaw.

Go to Woodcraft and get an Olsen or Timberwolf blade.

+2 on Timberwolf. Ellis gets good reviews but requires a $50 minimum order IIRC.

http://www.woodcraftbands.com/ not associated with Woodcraft stores

No experience with these guys but good reviews: http://www.spectrumsupply.com/

Not real common but they've worked okay for me:

There are also Highland Woodworking in Atlanta & Louis Iturra. They sell a resaw blade that gets good reviews. Highland calls is WoodSlicer, Iturra calls it Bladerunner (I think)

no matter what saw is in question you really can't afford to not have good quality blades on it unless the saw is a complete piece of junk (and if it is why spend any cash on it at all) then a good blade will make a world of difference

thankfully good quality does not necessarily mean expensive

just my 2 cents

Keith, I'm certain that South Bend would have some saw shops that custom make band saw blades.

They will have a wide selection of blade width and tooth types/pitch.

They will provide a superior product at less or the same cost as local retailers of packaged blades.

Just tell them what blade length/pitch tooth type/width you want, or tell what length you need and what you want to do with the blade.

They will be a wealth of information and suggestions.

Regards, Rod.

I use the Timberwolf blades from Grizzly. Good blades, good price, always good service. Since I'm basically a poor guy -but love woodworking, I have to find good value at a good price, can't afford the high end stuff, but as you know, you really can't afford the "cheap" stuff either. Grizzly's been good to me, --good value, fair price.

Best price vs performance for carbon steel blades I have found is Lenox and specifically from Spectrum Supply. The Flexback for curves and Kerfmaster for resawing. Haven't found a quality blade for less.

I have used t-wolf, olson and the grizzly blades and have had hit and miss from all. I currently have a 3/8" 6TPI from grizzly on my delta 14" and it works like a champ, small enough to do the vast majority of my contour cutting but stable and aggressive enough to do a little resawing. I recently resawed some 6" walnut and 3" white oak with no issues whatsoever and it has been cutting quite well. Unless you use your BS to make you money and need day in and day out performance, the Grizzly are fine. I've had good luck and the price is right. For around $50 you could order a grizz and t-wolf and compare side by side.

Thanks for all of the great replies. I would love to find a local shop that makes band saw blades but I guess I just thought that would be way more expensive then ordering one of the name brands off of the internet. I think I am going to give the Grizzly a shot because after using this forum for two years I have decided to start converting all of my shop over to Grizzly. The great customer service and the positive reviews of there tools have convinced me that for the small shop or even just a weekend woodworker Grizzly is a very good option. Now I just hope I can sell my Delta Contractors saw so I can afford to get a new 1023 when they become available.
