So im etching a plane on marble, it has a glass top, with the barn showing through it. Every time i etch it the glass doesnt show up, it just looks like a plane with an open cockpit, any suggestions?

Took me a few reads to get it, too...

Andy appears to be engraving a picture of an airplane (with a glass cockpit) onto a piece of marble. The cockpit is not showing up due to it's "clearness" in the photo.

Andy, your best bet is to modify the image using Photoshop (or whatever you have). Lasso the glass only and darken it until it begins to show up in the engraving.

Besides Dan's suggestion, you could also draw an outline along the edge of the glass instead of having the whole area filled in.

Or use the old illustrator's trick of drawing two parallel lines following the surface of the glass, preferably overlapping the background for best effect.

It replicates a reflection.
