These 2 Serving bowls were from a tree in neighborhood found while walking last year. The larger is 16 1/2"D x 6 1/2" H with about 5/16" WT and smaller is 8 1/2" D x 4" H with about 3/16" WT, WT below the thicker rims for handling. They are sanded to 400 grit and finished with Mahoney's Walnut Oil for general use. The big one is really too big for most uses, but I have a son that does enertain and hopefully it will get put to use. I really do like working with the Bradford Pear. The 8 1/2" bowl gets lost in the large bowl.

Those are a couple of nice bowls Thomas. That big one is like one I have for a family bowl of popcorn for movies.

Thomas,
These are really nice. Bradford Pear is one of my favorite woods to turn. It even spalts nicely.

Nice looking utility bowls... I agree with Ted about the turning properties of bradford pear. It's great stuff.

Very nice on the bowls. I have a couple chunks of bradford that I need to do something with someday. There is usually some available after a really good windstorm!!

Great job! I think Pear is a perfect wood for a salad bowl. I've been using the Mahoney's oil on mine. I include a small spray bottle of the oil with every bowl. That must have been a big Pear tree!

Bernie - do you have a commercial popcorn popper? That bowl is huge. I made a quick check on the volume using styrofoam peanuts and volume is about 10 quarts or more. It definitely will be a conversation piece if ever used.
