at a HF. Way too thick=especially the bottom. About 8"w x 4"h. Wipe on Poly x 4 and buffed. Please feel to C & C. Thanks! Gifted wood-Maybe Oak?

Nice Bob, love the holes. Can't wait to do my first HF. Gotta master a bowl first

Ya done good son... Just keeping that thing in one piece is an accomplishment. My first attempts at hollowing ended up in the trash heap and they did not have nearly as many voids as that one. The shape brings to mind Mike Minto's "Navaho" forms.

Very nice work Bob! Good looking wood and I really like all the character! Thickness really varies with each piece you turn. The main idea - at least for me - is to create a balanced piece. Sometimes it ends up thicker - sometimes a lot thinner - just depends.

Wow...very cool piece Bob!! Yep..it's oak...but dang purty oak. You'll get over that thickness thing. You need to keep that one forever. Find a shelf for it somewhere.

excellent so called "attempt" on such a difficult piece of wood. I'd like to say something about the shape but i don't think im really getting the whole picture, need a lower angle on the first picture.

Bob, all of your first attempts are better than mine! That looks great! You handled all the voids alright. You indented the bottom. You did good, friend! Now hang onto it. You'll be glad you did.

Bob,
I like that. Both the shape and the wood! I probably will borrow that shape for one of mine down the road. I too have to start working on getting the thickness down.

You picked a challenging piece of wood for your first HF. I really like the shape and all the voids. Excellent work.
