Well even though it's a LN 60 1/2R and LN says it's ready to use right out of the box we all know it ain't so. so I put the veritas jig and scary sharp to the test. I Scarysharpened my plane iron to 2000 grit. See if you can tell which is 600grit an which is 2000 grit :) The shavings were ACROSS the grain on a tenon that was a little snug. Well it's not any more. :) lookie at the curlies from the crossgrain. Oh and I used the LV veritas jig. :) Also a pic of the tenon.

My Dad and I did the same thing with his LN block plane. Cut just fine out of the box, but we decided to scary-ize it after we'd practiced on his chisels and Stanley.....paper thin shavings that you can read through.
