Went to install a dado blade today for the first time on this saw and found out that it will only take 5/8" dado. The arbor nut was not showing any arbor thread and the arbor was set in about 3/16 of an inch from the end of the nut. Anybody else find this out that owns this saw. Little disappointing that it won't take the dado up to 3/4". I'm using the Freud SD508 blade.

Stupid question, but were you trying to use it with the arbor washer?

I've read many times that it's not necessary as long as the nut fully threads onto the arbor. I use it if I can get it on there, if not I don't. Never noticed any difference either way.

you mean 5/8 diameter? or 5/8 in dado thickness? at some point in expanding the thickness, I stop using the washer... can go up to at least 3/4... maybe more... don't know.

In fact, if you search this forum, I believe it's been discussed here several times. I'm pretty sure because I don't belong to any other WW forums.

My saw (Bosch 4100) tells me to remove the flange washer, for use with a dado stack.

A good basic primer:

If you would read the owner's manual  page 29 says for dado widths larger than 3/8", do not use the arbor washer.

Oh, yeah, like somebody is going to read the manual. :p:p

Why NOT read the SawStop manual? They produce some of the best WW machinery manuals out there!!

Your right Andy, I should of read the manual:(.....I did thumb through it quickly but I guess I did it to quick. It is the best manual I've ever seen that came with any of the machines I've bought so far. Thanks for all the input....

When all else fails, retrieve the instructions from the trash
