After all your great help (http://www.sawmillcreek.org/showthread.php?t=144175) I went to check this Performax 22-44. Owner, likely for me,change his hobby to car restoration and was ready to sell drum sander. He asked $1000, I paid $550:D:D for:
155772
and four new boxes of sandpapers and manual
155776

It was made by Performax, has a Leesen :Dmotor rewired for 220v
155774

Now I have just a few problems - I need to make a space for DS
155773
and clean machine
155777
Question :confused:how to clean out this discoloration on pressure rolls:confused:
Thank you again for your help.

I saw your other thread during lunch... okay tell us. Did you get to run it at the sellers place? Did you run a test board and make sure it came out okay? I would love to find one but even at the $550 it make me nervous. Some day.... some day.

Congrats on the new toy... er tool.

$550? Wow! Give us some negotiating hints on how to talk someone down almost 50% off their asking price? Did you take along a guy named Vinny?

Thank you, guys.
Owner wasn't really sure about a price. His logic was - I bought it for $1700 and want to sell for 2/3 of it.
I did "test drive":D with oak board I had in my car. I did check everything. It is a very small defect on edge of the belt, but everything was running very smoothly:D:D.It is no run off and drum is pristine clean, previous owner used in 10 years only twice, but for two big projects.
Before driving there I printed out search result for all 22-44 DS from CL around the country. Median price were around $700 but newer models.
What should I use to clean all old crease??

Ed,

If that belt is rubber, use a mild soap and water to clean it. Don't use alcohol. It will harden the rubber. We found out the hard way on old capstan drives on the reel-to-reel tape drives used for data storage.

UMMM, you did NOT get a Performax 22-44 you got a 22-44 PRO... :D

Thats the equal of the Jet 22-44 Pro (you can download a manual at the Jet site if you need it) which is a much nicer/stronger sander. Everyones price recommendations were based on a regular 22-44....

Let me just say YOU SUCK!!!

Man do you suck...

edit: I see you got the manual, you can get parts from Jet also

Congrats, you bought a 22-44 Pro model. It is probably worht closer to the asking price than we discussed yesterday. Nice work.

Ok, pardon my ignorance, what's the difference between the pro model and the non-pro model? Features?

In this case it is the Pro 3 which has a 3hp motor (the "regular" 22-44 and the Pro have 1 3/4hp) and it is built a good bit heavier, not really much on the "feature" side. It has the large open web casting above the arm that reinforces it, though I have never seen a regular 22-44 deflect much if any. The 22-44 Pro 3 goes for about $2100 most of the time, even on one of the Jet 15% off sales it is still about a $1900 sander.
