The subject came up recently here on SMC regarding Grizzly planers with dust hoods that angled to the side.

Just in case anyone was wondering, YES, if you want to retrofit your G1033 20" planer with one of the side angled discharging hoods, it will work. I ordered mine last week. Just got it today. Fit perfectly on mine. It cost about $25.

The one issue I had was that the 5" flex hose that I am using is actually from a Grizzly G1029 (2 HP DC). When I did the stove pipe mod to that DC, I ended up using that short piece of flex pipe for my planer (since it is the only thing I have with a 5" port). The problem is that that particular flex pipe doesn't reaaaaaaaly want to go on the new port. Odd, but true. Maybe other 5" flex pipes will mount on it easier. I had to bully it on. It is on "enough", but not 2-3" like I would like. No leaks...

So, if you've been considering it, but weren't sure if it would fit (Grizzly reps will neither confirm nor deny its ability to fit), have at it!
