Has anyone here made their own versions of classic toys? I've been looking to do some set-up and make jigs to build a set of these various toys for my grandkids. Any dimensions, issues, processes, procedures, materials, finishes, etc, you used ... or any pictures (!!!!) ... would be greatly appreciated. For example... how do you drill six evenly-spaced holes around a tinkertoy disk? Thanks!!

Legos would be a bear!

On the tinker toy disc, make a jig with a pin that indexes off the previous hole to get the 60 degree spacing correct.

Rockler sells a router bit that replicates the look of a Lincoln Log:

Thanks. I have a set of those in different sizes. What I hoping to find out was whether anyone has made their own, how they did it, how it turned out, what issues I need to consider. Sounds like a 'no' so far.

Check out this link. I made a few test logs and they worked out ok. I was gonna make a set for my nephew but never got around to it. Now that I have a 15 week old it's back on the list. He recommends doing the dado before ripping the individual logs. I made a simple jig (basically a sacrificial push block) for my RT and did them one at a time after the rip. If i had to do a bunch I'd probably try it his way. The links on the right of the page have sizes and spacing.

Sure hope this helps. If you make 'em let me know how it works out for ya.
