Has anywone ever used the Magic Molder to make dowels? Specifically their plugs P8 - P12. I'm wondering if those would work?

That last cut would be 'iffy' to say the least.

You can make dowels pretty easily in four passes using a round over bit and table mounted router with a fence. If you are worried bout the dowel rolling on the final cut, cut your stock a bit longer than needed and don't cut each pass all the way to the end of the piece. Leaving the leading and trailing ends square will help guide the piece. Use a feather board to hold the material tight to the fence and a push stick to push it through the cut. Make the cuts in the sequence shown below, always with the square corner toward your fence and bit and the most recent cut toward the fence and up.

Don't attempt these cuts with without a fence even with a piloted bit as it will not work well after the first cut.
