Anyone make one of these tools?

Any tips would be very helpful. Anything from different angles, to the silver soldering, to resharpening the HSS cutter would be appreciated. I plan to use them for Globe Ornaments just Mr. Rosand.

Thanks,
Glenn

I just use an Allen Wrench. I'm sure to bend it in a goose neck form though. I have a nice scar where a right angle allen wrench made a hole in me....

Glenn, Since you are going to be using them for small things you can get some O-1 or other tool steel that has not been heat treated yet and make the round or square steel into the shape you want. It is very easy to harden O-1 tool steel and would be a lot easier than soldering on a new piece of HSS every time it wore out. You can get a 3' piece of tool steel for about $4 and that will make a bunch of 6" tools. If you have any more questions feel free to send me a PM.

Have fun,

Jeff
