Here is a wonderful chunk of wood. I got the green blank from fellow member, that lives in Hawaii, as part of a private wood trade. I turned it rough really thick because I didnt know what it would do and after drying. But after it was dry it was only about 1/8" ovaled! I loved turning this bowl and the end product has a lot of character in the wood. The wood was very easy to turn and finish. If you can score some of this DO IT! I want some more!. 8 1/2" diameter and just a hair over 3" tall. Sanded to 400 and finished with several coats of Antique Oil.

Comments and Critics are welcome as usual.

That is some neat looking wood and it does make a great looking bowl. I would like some of that myself.

Very nice bowl Scott! Beautiful wood - love all the grain color variations! Also like how you hollowed out the rim area a little.

Nice work! Thanks for sharing!

Nice looking bowl. It seems the mango I've turned has been a little hit or miss. Some of it's beautiful(like the piece you had) and some of it's rather plain. Your piece has some nice spalt and grain... Great job.

Nice job Scott. Mango does have a lot of different looks. I have several mango blanks that I need turn and your piece may be pushing me to do one. I keep trying to improve my skill to level to work with some of those Hawaiian woods.

Beautiful bowl Scott. I saw some incredible mango wood for sale while on vacation a few years ago on the Big Island at a little macadamia nut roadside stand. Had no way to get it home but man was it pretty. Your bowl reminded me that I'd like to turn some someday.
