Two new turnings. The first is Box elder burl and blackwood. Dia. is 6.5 inches. The burl was given to me by Brian Brown when he paid me a visit a few months ago. Thanks Brian. I have enough left for another piece. Box elder is one of my favorites to turn. I seldom have access to it.

The second vessel is camphor burl and blackwood. Dia. is 5.5 inches. When I'm turning camphor my shop smells like that stuff my mother used to rub on my chest when I had a cold. The wood is a bit soft but nice to turn.

Wally, very nice pieces. I love both of them. I am really impressed with the finials. Nice and clean. What tools did you use to hollow? I am hoping to start on some HF's later this week.

Wally, really nice pieces!! I love the box elder wood, and the form of the camphor piece is one of the more interesting pieces I have seen recently. Always enjoy seeing your work!

Wally, that Box Elder looks a whole lot better now, than when I found it at the dump! It's amazing what a piece of refuse can look like when it comes in contact with a sharp tool and a skilled artist. Even when that artist won't tell anyone how he makes his beading tools. Glad to have supplied the wood. :)

Wally - excellent work on both of these forms! Both are beautifully turned and detailed!

Have to admit that the camphor one really steals the show for me though! Love the wood, color, finial/pedestal proportions and the shape of the hollow form! You have a real winner there!

Looking forward to seeing what you are turning next! Thanks for sharing!

hmmmmm very nicely done pieces

however my initial thought really had nothing to do with the quality of the turning but rather my first thought was that i am not a fan of finials in general might be that it will grow on me and maybe it won't but for now at least finials just aren't doing anything for me

definitely well done pieces and the wood between the finials is awesome stuff :)

Yup..your form is great, the design and heft of the finials and pedestals is great, the wood is great....finish...lighting...everything. You are a perfect human. Nicely done.:)

What's this about not sharing your beading tools?:D

That's a pair of beauties. I really like the elongated body of the camphor form. I wouldn't change a thing about either of them.
