I finally had a chance to get back out in my "studio" and do some turning. My wife had these plastic margarita glasses and I cut the base and stem off one to make the lid and finial. After I cut the stem off I buffed out the saw marks. The box is cedar and the top is spalted maple. Next time im going to try a clear lid with a finial made from wood.

That's pretty creative. When I see a margarita glass, I think margaritas(and potentially poor decision making associated with the tequila)... You see clear box lids with finials. The vortex is strong with this one.

It's certainly different; not your run-of-the-mill box.

Great use of imagination and different materials! I've turned a couple of clear lidded candy dished and they are always a big hit!

Looking forward to seeing your next variation!

I agree, it is great use of materials. I really like the clear lid. You should purse this direction. Oh, a very nice box too, love the wood combination.

I love it! Her Majesty says it's OK. She doesn't like the lid.
I love it! :D

Very creative. I have occasionally seen glass tops that have been missing bottoms where I have wondered how they would look with a wooden base.

I've never seen anything clearly by the time the tequila was gone.

Thanks for all the comments.
