Are the old style drill bits still available for egg beater drills? I haven't had any luck with net searches. The newer twist bits are always too long to fit into my handle. I am also wondering if the single flutes work better at the lower rpm's. I have a Millers Falls No. 5.

I have found old drill indexes from the 1950s that seem to have bits the correct length. The new bits also seem to fit in the old metal indexes.

My eggbeaters are Millers Falls No.2s. The handle may be longer than on the No.5.

Mostly for the eggbeaters the only bits that are in the handles of mine are for drilling pilot holes for screws. Bigger bits will not fit most of the time. I have seen some short bits in the 1/4 inch size, but I just keep them in a separate box.
